Short answer: On 28 October 2026, none of the 56 Europe-range packs in our catalog listed Monaco. Six Monaco-only plans do, two of them unlimited for 3 or 5 days, and so do 12 worldwide packs that cost far more. For a moderate week staying in Monaco, buy Monaco 10 GB at $17.99.
| Trip length | Moderate use | Cheapest Monaco plan with enough data | Price | Valid for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | 2–4 GB | Monaco 5 GB | $11.99 | 30 days |
| 7 days | 4–7 GB | Monaco 10 GB | $17.99 | 30 days |
| 10 days | 6–10 GB | Monaco 10 GB | $17.99 | 30 days |
| 14 days | 8–14 GB | No single Monaco plan is big enough | – | – |
| 30 days | 15–25 GB | No single Monaco plan is big enough | – | – |
Prices checked on 28 October 2026. The moderate-use column comes from our trip data calculator. All six Monaco plans are sold by Airalo, are data-only and allow hotspot use.
Monaco is small and it is surrounded by France, so most people assume a Europe eSIM covers it. In our catalog, none does. This guide lists every plan that covers Monaco, explains what the two unlimited plans actually give you, and works out what to buy if you sleep in Nice and visit Monaco for the day. The live list is always on our Monaco plans page.

Why don’t Europe eSIM packs include Monaco?
Monaco is not one of the 27 EU member states on the EU’s own country list. The EU’s “roam like at home” rules, as the European Commission’s Your Europe page describes them, apply across the EU, in the EEA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and in Moldova and Ukraine. The same page says other countries are not covered by that regime, although many operators choose to extend these offers to them anyway.
An eSIM supplier building a Europe pack has to add countries outside that area deal by deal. For Monaco, every Europe pack we sell left it off. On 28 October 2026 we checked all 56 Europe-range packs in our catalog, from nine plan families:
| Plan family (supplier) | Plans on sale | Lists France | Lists Monaco |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europe (eSIMGo) | 10 | Yes | No |
| Europe Premium (eSIMGo) | 3 | Yes | No |
| Europe Special (Sparks) | 5 | Yes | No |
| Europe and USA (Sparks) | 10 | Yes | No |
| Balkans Special (Sparks) | 5 | Yes | No |
| Europe (NextLink) | 7 | Yes | No |
| EUconnect (Airalo) | 8 | Yes | No |
| Half Global (3) | 6 | Yes | No |
| EU Unlimited Calls (Bouygues) | 2 | Yes | No |
The Europe and USA count includes one yearly plan. Every one of these packs lists France. Not one lists Monaco.
That does not prove a Europe pack would never connect inside Monaco. It means the supplier does not promise it, and we cannot either. If Monaco is on your route, buy a plan whose coverage list includes it. For the same reason we left Monaco out of our guide to one eSIM for the UK and Switzerland.
Which eSIM plans cover Monaco?
Eighteen plans on 28 October 2026: six that cover Monaco alone, and twelve worldwide packs that cover 150 or more countries. No pack of 2 to 60 countries in our catalog lists Monaco.
The six Monaco plans, all by Airalo:
| Plan | Data | Valid for | Price | Network | Top-ups |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monaco 1 GB | 1 GB | 7 days | $4.49 | 5G/4G | Yes |
| Monaco 3 GB | 3 GB | 30 days | $7.99 | 5G/4G | Yes |
| Monaco 5 GB | 5 GB | 30 days | $11.99 | 5G/4G | Yes |
| Monaco 10 GB | 10 GB | 30 days | $17.99 | 5G/4G | Yes |
| Monaco Unlimited 3 Days | Unlimited, see below | 3 days | $11.99 | 4G/LTE | No |
| Monaco Unlimited 5 Days | Unlimited, see below | 5 days | $16.99 | 4G/LTE | No |
All six start when you first use data, not when you install them, and each has to be activated within 2 months of purchase. The four fixed-data plans say “no daily limits, no throttling”.
The twelve worldwide packs are Discover Global by Airalo (five sizes, 1 to 10 GB), Best World by Ubigi (four sizes) and World by Ubigi (three sizes). They start at $9.49 for 1 GB over 7 days. The cheapest 10 GB worldwide pack is Discover Global 10 GB at $44.99, two and a half times the price of Monaco 10 GB. None of the twelve is listed as 5G.
What do the two Monaco unlimited plans actually give you?

Both product pages give the same fair-use line, word for word: “3GB/day at 20Mbps. 1Mbps afterwards.”
In practice:
- Full speed is capped at 20 Mbps, even inside your first 3 GB each day. That is plenty for maps, messages, photos and video calls. It is slower than the 5G that the fixed plans list.
- After 3 GB in a day, speed drops to 1 Mbps until the next day. At 1 Mbps, messages and maps still work, while video and large uploads crawl.
- Network is 4G/LTE only. The fixed Monaco plans list 5G.
- You cannot top them up. When the 3 or 5 days end, you buy a new plan.
So the 3-day plan gives up to about 9 GB at full speed (3 GB on each of 3 days), and the 5-day plan up to about 15 GB. The daily reset is what matters: you cannot save Monday’s unused allowance for Tuesday.
Compare that with the fixed-data plans at similar prices:
| If you are in Monaco for | Unlimited plan | Fixed-data alternative |
|---|---|---|
| 3 days | Unlimited 3 Days, $11.99 | Monaco 5 GB, $11.99, valid 30 days |
| 5 days | Unlimited 5 Days, $16.99 | Monaco 10 GB, $17.99, valid 30 days |
At three days the price is the same, so the choice is about how you use data. If you stream, upload video or hotspot a laptop, the unlimited plan’s 3 GB a day goes further than 5 GB in total. If you mostly use maps and messages, Monaco 5 GB gives you 5G, a 30-day window and the option to top up. For a different country with the same kind of trade-off, see our guide to unlimited data for two weeks in Italy.
Staying in Nice and visiting Monaco: one eSIM or two?

Monaco’s official tourism site names Nice-Côte d’Azur as the main airport near Monaco, about 30 km away by road. So many visitors land in France, sleep in Nice or Menton, and spend a day or two in Monaco. A Monaco plan only lists Monaco, and a France plan only lists France. You have two ways to be covered in both.
Option 1: a France plan for the whole trip plus a small Monaco plan. Most eSIM phones can store more than one eSIM, and you choose which one handles mobile data in settings when you cross over.
Option 2: one worldwide pack that lists both. Simpler, but it costs more.
Here is the moderate-use estimate for each trip length, with Monaco 3 GB covering the Monaco days:
| Trip length | Moderate use | France plan + Monaco 3 GB | Cheapest worldwide pack listing both |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | 2–4 GB | France 5 GB $7.99 + $7.99 = $15.98 | Discover Global 5 GB, $27.99 |
| 7 days | 4–7 GB | France 10 GB $10.99 + $7.99 = $18.98 | Discover Global 10 GB, $44.99 |
| 10 days | 6–10 GB | France 10 GB $10.99 + $7.99 = $18.98 | Discover Global 10 GB, $44.99 |
| 14 days | 8–14 GB | France 20 GB $17.99 + $7.99 = $25.98 | Best World 50 GB 180 Days, $111.99 |
The France plans in this table are by eSIMGo, valid 30 days and also data-only. From one week to two weeks, two eSIMs cost less than half the price of the worldwide pack. Even for three days they save $12.01.
The trade-offs of the two-eSIM route:
- Two separate orders. Our store sells one eSIM per order, so you check out twice and get two QR codes.
- One manual switch. When you cross into Monaco, switch mobile data to the Monaco eSIM, and switch back in France.
- If you only go to Monaco for one afternoon, Monaco 1 GB at $4.49 (7 days) does the job instead of Monaco 3 GB.
You can see the France plans on our France plans page.
How much data do you need in Monaco?
Light means messages, maps and some browsing. Moderate adds social media, photos and some video. Heavy means streaming, video calls or running a hotspot.
| Trip length | Light | Moderate | Heavy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | 1–2 GB | 2–4 GB | 5–8 GB |
| 7 days | 2–3 GB | 4–7 GB | 9–15 GB |
| 10 days | 3–5 GB | 6–10 GB | 13–20 GB |
| 14 days | 4–7 GB | 8–14 GB | 18–28 GB |
| 30 days | 8–15 GB | 15–25 GB | 30–50+ GB |
The cheapest Monaco plan for each light and heavy level, on 28 October 2026:
- 3 days, light: Monaco 3 GB, $7.99. Heavy: Monaco Unlimited 3 Days, $11.99, with up to 9 GB at full speed.
- 7 days, light: Monaco 3 GB, $7.99. Heavy: no single Monaco plan reaches 15 GB for a week.
- 10 days, light: Monaco 5 GB, $11.99.
- 14 days, light: Monaco 10 GB, $17.99.
What if you need more than 10 GB in Monaco?
The largest fixed Monaco plan is 10 GB, and the unlimited plans stop at 5 days. For a longer stay with heavier use, you have two routes:
- Top up the Monaco eSIM. The four fixed Monaco plans can be topped up. On 28 October 2026 the Monaco top-ups were 1 GB $4.49, 3 GB $7.99, 5 GB $11.99, 10 GB $17.99 and 20 GB $25.99. A top-up is added to the same eSIM, so you keep one QR code. For example, Monaco 10 GB plus a 5 GB top-up comes to $29.98 by our arithmetic, for 15 GB.
- Buy a worldwide pack. Best World 50 GB 180 Days by Ubigi, $111.99, lists both Monaco and France. It only makes sense for a long stay or several trips within six months.
Which Monaco eSIM fits which trip?
- A day trip from Nice: France plan for the trip, plus Monaco 1 GB at $4.49.
- A Grand Prix weekend with lots of video: Monaco Unlimited 3 Days, $11.99.
- Five days in Monaco, streaming or hotspot: Monaco Unlimited 5 Days, $16.99.
- A week in Monaco, moderate use: Monaco 10 GB, $17.99, valid 30 days.
- A week on the Riviera, sleeping in Nice: France 10 GB plus Monaco 3 GB, $18.98 for both.
- Several countries on one trip, including Monaco: a worldwide pack. Compare sizes in the catalog. If Monaco is not on your route, see our guide to NextLink Europe’s 36 countries for one of the cheaper Europe packs.
FAQ
Does a Europe eSIM work in Monaco?
None of the 56 Europe-range packs in our catalog listed Monaco on 28 October 2026. They may or may not connect there, but the supplier does not promise it. Buy a plan that lists Monaco.
What is the cheapest eSIM for Monaco?
Monaco 1 GB by Airalo, $4.49, valid 7 days. For a week of moderate use, Monaco 10 GB at $17.99 is the cheapest plan with enough data.
Is there an unlimited eSIM for Monaco?
Yes, two: Monaco Unlimited 3 Days at $11.99 and 5 Days at $16.99. Both give 3 GB a day at up to 20 Mbps, then 1 Mbps until the next day, on 4G/LTE.
Is Monaco covered by EU roaming?
Monaco is not an EU member state, and the European Commission’s Your Europe page does not list it among the places where “roam like at home” applies. Some operators extend their offers anyway, so check with your own operator.
Does a France eSIM work in Monaco?
The France plans in our catalog list France only, not Monaco. If you stay in Nice and visit Monaco, add a small Monaco plan or buy a worldwide pack that lists both.
Can I top up a Monaco eSIM?
The four fixed-data Monaco plans can be topped up, with top-ups from 1 GB to 20 GB. The two unlimited plans cannot.
The short version
Monaco is easy to miss: it sits inside France, but no Europe pack in our catalog lists it. Buy one of the six Monaco plans for days spent in Monaco, pick an unlimited plan only for a short, heavy-use stay, and if you are based in Nice, pair a France plan with a small Monaco plan instead of paying for a worldwide pack.
Before you buy, confirm
- The product page’s coverage list includes MC, plus France if you will sleep there.
- The validity covers your stay: 3 or 5 days for the unlimited plans, 7 days for Monaco 1 GB, 30 days for the others.
- You are fine with a data-only eSIM with no phone number.
- If you choose two eSIMs, your phone can hold both and you know where to switch mobile data.
- You will activate within 2 months of buying.
