One eSIM for the UK and Switzerland: Which Europe Packs Cover Both

Short answer: On 27 October 2026, 38 of the 56 Europe-range packs in our catalog covered both the UK and Switzerland. NextLink Europe and EUconnect skip Switzerland, Europe Premium Unlimited skips the UK, and no Switzerland-only plan exists. For a moderate week in both countries, buy Europe 10 GB by eSIMGo at $13.99.

A London-and-Zurich trip is a common way to get caught out. Plenty of Europe eSIMs read like they cover “Europe”, then leave out one of these two. This guide sorts every Europe-range pack on our Europe plans page by whether it covers the UK, Switzerland or both, and picks the cheapest size that covers both for each trip length.

Two young Asian women on a Swiss train; one in a yellow jacket looks out at a turquoise lake and snowy peaks while the other checks her phone, with coffee and a pastry on the table
Switzerland is not on NextLink Europe’s list. eSIMGo’s Europe 10 GB, $13.99, covers it and the UK.

Why do Europe eSIMs leave out the UK or Switzerland?

Neither country is in the EU, and neither is in the European Economic Area. The EU’s “roam like at home” rules, as the European Commission’s Your Europe page describes them, apply across the EU, in the EEA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and in Moldova and Ukraine. The same page says other countries are not covered by that regime.

An eSIM supplier that builds a Europe pack has to sign separate deals for countries outside that area, and some decide not to. That is how two packs both called “Europe” end up with different country lists. Two examples from our catalog:

  • NextLink Europe lists 36 countries, including the UK, Moldova and Ukraine. Its product page says: “Switzerland coverage is not included in this package.” We covered that family in detail in our guide to NextLink Europe’s 36 countries.
  • Europe Premium Unlimited by eSIMGo lists 35 countries, including Switzerland. Its product page says: “United Kingdom coverage is not included in this package.”

The country list on each product page is the thing to check. The pack’s name tells you very little.

Which Europe packs cover both the UK and Switzerland?

Six plan families, 38 plans in all, on 27 October 2026. The country counts are the number of codes on each product page’s coverage list.

Plan family (supplier)UKSwitzerlandCountries listedPlans on salePrice range

Half Global (3)YesYes516$16.99–$145.99
EU Unlimited Calls (Bouygues)YesYes342$51.99–$65.99

The Europe and USA count includes one yearly plan. A few details are worth knowing before you pick:

  • eSIMGo Europe comes in two versions. The 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 and 50 GB plans list 34 countries and use a UK IP address. The 15, 30 and 60 GB plans list 36 countries, adding Moldova and Serbia, use an Irish IP address and last 15 days.
  • Sparks plans use a UK IP address and last 30 days at most sizes. The 1 GB plans last 14 days.
  • Half Global by 3 covers the Caucasus and Central Asia as well, uses a Hong Kong IP address and starts its validity when you scan the QR code, not at first data use.
  • The Bouygues plans come with a French +33 number and unlimited calls and texts within the EU, use a French IP address, cannot be topped up and do not include Turkey.

Every one of these 38 packs also lists Liechtenstein, which matters if you are taking the train from Zurich towards Vaduz.

Which packs cover only one of them?

Eighteen Europe-range plans cover one country and not the other:

Plan family (supplier)UKSwitzerlandCountries listedPlans on salePrice range
Europe (NextLink)YesNo367$4.49–$48.99
EUconnect (Airalo)YesNo288$8.99–$28.99
Europe Premium Unlimited (eSIMGo)NoYes353$25.99–$51.99

EUconnect lists the 27 EU countries plus the UK, so Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein are missing too. The eight EUconnect plans include the four unlimited ones, from 3 to 10 days.

If you already bought NextLink Europe or EUconnect and then added Zurich to the trip, the eSIM will not connect in Switzerland. You would need a second eSIM that covers Switzerland, and the next section explains why that second eSIM has to be a multi-country pack.

Is there a Switzerland-only eSIM?

Not in our catalog. On 27 October 2026 we had no plan that covers Switzerland alone, and no Liechtenstein-only plan either. Every plan that works in Switzerland is a multi-country pack.

The UK is different. Eight UK-only plans by eSIMGo were on sale, listed on our UK plans page, from UK 1 GB 20 Minutes at $5.99 to UK 999 GB 500 Minutes at $68.99. Most come with a set of call minutes.

That makes the “UK plan plus a Swiss plan” route a dead end. The practical options are one Europe pack that lists both countries, or, if you want unlimited data, the two-eSIM setup further down.

How much data do you need, and which pack covers both?

The trip lengths and data ranges below are the same three tiers our trip data calculator uses. For each cell we took every Europe-range pack that lists both the UK and Switzerland, kept the ones with at least the top of the range and enough validity, and picked the cheapest.

Trip lengthLight useModerate useHeavy use
3 days1–2 GB: Europe Special 3 GB, $5.492–4 GB: Europe Special 5 GB, $8.495–8 GB: Europe 10 GB, $13.99

Prices checked on 27 October 2026. Europe Special plans are by Sparks, Europe plans by eSIMGo.

Three cells need a note:

  • Europe 15 GB and Europe 30 GB last 15 days. They fit a week or two weeks, not a month.
  • The 10-day heavy cell is a tie. Europe Special 20 GB by Sparks also costs $24.99 and also lasts 30 days.
  • The 30-day heavy cell is the Bouygues calls plan. It gives 60 GB for 30 days at $51.99, but it comes with a French number, a French IP address and no top-ups. If you would rather have a data-only plan, Europe Special 50 GB 60 Days by Sparks costs $52.99 and lasts 60 days.

Does adding Switzerland make the eSIM more expensive?

Barely, and at some lengths it makes it cheaper. We compared the moderate-use pick above with the cheapest Europe-range pack that covers the UK but not Switzerland, using the same rule.

Trip lengthModerate useCovers bothCovers the UK onlyDifference
3 days2–4 GBEurope Special 5 GB, $8.49EUconnect Unlimited 3 Days, $9.49$1.00 less
7 days4–7 GBEurope 10 GB, $13.99Europe 7 GB (NextLink), $10.99$3.00 more
10 days6–10 GBEurope 10 GB, $13.99Europe 12 GB (NextLink), $14.99$1.00 less
14 days8–14 GBEurope 15 GB, $16.99Europe 20 GB (NextLink), $22.99$6.00 less
30 days15–25 GBEurope and USA 25 GB, $29.99Europe 25 GB (NextLink), $26.99$3.00 more

The differences are our arithmetic from prices on 27 October 2026. The packs that cover Switzerland are not a premium tier. The gaps come from which sizes each family happens to sell: NextLink has a 7 GB plan and the both-country families jump from 5 GB to 10 GB, while eSIMGo’s 15 GB plan fills a gap that NextLink leaves between 12 and 20 GB.

So the cost of a UK and Switzerland trip is not Switzerland itself. It is buying a pack that leaves one of them out and paying for a second eSIM later.

Is there an unlimited eSIM that covers both?

No. None of the 65 plans in our catalog that cover both countries, including the global packs, was labelled unlimited on 27 October 2026. The two unlimited families in our Europe range each miss one country:

  • EUconnect Unlimited (Airalo), 3, 5, 7 or 10 days from $9.49 to $20.99, covers the UK but not Switzerland.
  • Europe Premium Unlimited (eSIMGo), 5, 10 or 15 days at $25.99, $38.99 or $51.99, covers Switzerland but not the UK. It gives 30, 60 or 90 GB at full speed, then 2 Mbps.

If you need unlimited data in both, the only route is two eSIMs: Europe Premium Unlimited for the Swiss part, and a UK plan for London, for example UK 5 GB 100 Minutes at $11.99. Most eSIM phones can store more than one eSIM, and you choose which one handles mobile data in settings. For a normal trip of maps, photos and messages, one fixed-data pack from the tables above costs less than either unlimited plan on its own.

Should you buy a UK-only plan and add a Europe pack?

Only if you want the UK minutes. For data, the Europe pack that covers both is cheaper size for size:

DataUK-only plan (eSIMGo)Europe pack that covers both
5 GB, 30 daysUK 5 GB 100 Minutes, $11.99Europe Special 5 GB, $8.49
10 GB, 30 daysUK 10 GB 200 Minutes, $16.99Europe 10 GB, $13.99
20 GB, 30 daysUK 20 GB 300 Minutes, $26.99Europe 20 GB, $24.99

The UK plans include call minutes, use a UK IP address and are the only plans in our catalog that cover the UK alone. If you will be in the UK for most of the trip and need to call UK numbers, a UK plan plus a small Europe pack for the Swiss days is reasonable. For data alone, one Europe pack covers both countries for less.

Which pack fits which UK and Switzerland trip?

A family on a Swiss mountain village platform: the girl points at an arriving red train, the father crouches beside her holding a phone, and the mother shades her eyes looking at the peaks
There is no Switzerland-only plan in our catalog, so the Swiss days need a pack that also lists the UK.
  • A long weekend in each, light use: Europe Special 3 GB, $5.49, valid 30 days.
  • A week split between London and the Alps, moderate use: Europe 10 GB, $13.99, valid 30 days.
  • Ten days with a lot of video: Europe 20 GB by eSIMGo or Europe Special 20 GB by Sparks, both $24.99 and 30 days.
  • Two weeks, moderate to heavy use: Europe 15 GB at $16.99 or Europe 30 GB at $25.99, both 15 days.
  • A month: Europe and USA 25 GB at $29.99, or Europe Special 50 GB 60 Days at $52.99 for heavy use.
  • You also live in the UK and want data at home after the trip: see our guide to eSIM plans for people who live in the UK.

The short version

A Europe eSIM that covers both the UK and Switzerland is easy to find once you read the country list: eSIMGo Europe, Sparks Europe Special and Europe and USA, Balkans Special, Half Global and the Bouygues calls plans all include both. NextLink Europe and EUconnect do not include Switzerland, and there is no Switzerland-only plan to patch the gap. Covering both costs between $6 less and $3 more than a UK-only pack, so pick from the both-country list from the start.

Before you buy, confirm

  • The product page’s coverage list includes GB and CH, plus every other country and stopover on your route.
  • The validity covers your trip: 15 days for Europe 15 GB, 30 GB and 60 GB, 30 days for most others.
  • You are fine with a data-only eSIM and a UK, Irish or other non-Swiss IP address.
  • If you pick a Bouygues plan, you are fine with a French number and no top-ups.
