Unlimited Data eSIM for Iceland: Three Plans, and What to Buy Instead

Short answer: Three unlimited plans in our catalog cover Iceland, all from one family: Europe Premium Unlimited, 5, 10 or 15 days, at $25.99, $38.99 or $51.99. Each gives 30, 60 or 90 GB at full speed, then 2 Mbps. Most Iceland trips use far less. For a moderate week, buy Europe 7 GB at $10.99.

Prices checked on 26 October 2026. The moderate-use column is from our trip data calculator, and each plan in a row lasts at least that many days. Every plan in the table allows hotspot use.

On 26 October 2026, 79 plans in our catalog covered Iceland. Four of them are Iceland-only plans from Airalo, listed on our Iceland plans page. The other 75 are multi-country packs. This guide picks out the three labelled unlimited, reads their fine print, and checks whether an Iceland trip needs unlimited at all.

Two friends beside a white campervan at a roadside pull-off in Iceland, one pointing up the road while the other holds his phone, a waterfall behind them.
Iceland’s road trips run on mobile data, but only three unlimited eSIMs in our catalog cover the country.

Which unlimited eSIMs cover Iceland?

Three, and they are the same plan at three lengths. On 26 October 2026 our catalog had 53 plans marked unlimited, in 15 plan families. Only one family includes Iceland:

PlanValidityFull-speed dataAfter thatPriceCost per day
Europe Premium Unlimited 5 Days (eSIMGo)5 days30 GB in total2 Mbps$25.99$5.20
Europe Premium Unlimited 10 Days (eSIMGo)10 days60 GB in total2 Mbps$38.99$3.90
Europe Premium Unlimited 15 Days (eSIMGo)15 days90 GB in total2 Mbps$51.99$3.47

There is no Iceland-only unlimited plan, and no unlimited plan anywhere in the catalog runs longer than 15 days. If your trip is 16 days or more, no single unlimited eSIM covers it.

The cost per day is our arithmetic. It falls as the plan gets longer, so if you are choosing between the 10-day and the 15-day plan for a 12-day trip, the longer one costs $13 more and gives you 30 GB more fast data.

What does Europe Premium Unlimited give you in Iceland?

A man shares his phone's connection with a laptop at a campervan table beside a fjord in Iceland while his travel partner looks out of the window.
Hotspot for a laptop is where unlimited starts to make sense: Europe Premium allows it, with 6 GB a day at full speed on average.

A fixed block of fast data with a slow lane behind it. The product pages say “Total 90 GB at full speed, 2Mbps speed cap afterwards” for the 15-day plan, with 30 GB and 60 GB on the shorter two. The data never runs out, but after that total the speed drops to 2 Mbps until the plan ends.

The rest of the listing, as it reads on 26 October 2026:

  • Network label: 5G/4G/LTE. The supplier’s text says 5G depends on network coverage, your phone and its settings.
  • Hotspot: allowed.
  • Top-up: not available. You cannot add days or data.
  • Phone number: none. It is a data-only eSIM.
  • Activation: validity starts on first data use. The eSIM expires if it is not activated within 2 months of purchase.
  • IP address: Ireland. Sites you visit see an Irish address, not an Icelandic one.
  • Coverage: Iceland plus 34 other European countries, including Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. The product page says the United Kingdom is not included.

Spread evenly, every length works out at 6 GB a day: 30 GB over 5 days, 60 over 10, 90 over 15. That is our arithmetic, not a figure on the product page. At 2 Mbps, maps, messages and email still work, and HD video struggles. Our guide to what “unlimited” means on a travel eSIM compares the speed rules across every unlimited plan we sell.

Why doesn’t EUconnect cover Iceland?

Because Iceland is not on its list. EUconnect from Airalo is the cheapest unlimited family in our Europe range, from $9.49 for 3 days to $20.99 for 10 days, and in our Italy unlimited guide it was the budget option. For Iceland it is not an option at all.

Its coverage list has 28 countries: 27 EU members plus the United Kingdom. Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are missing. The product page mentions Switzerland by name (“Switzerland coverage is not included in this package”) but says nothing about Iceland, so the only way to see it is to read the country codes.

This matters if you are flying through Copenhagen, Amsterdam or Paris and want one unlimited eSIM for the whole trip. EUconnect would work on the stopover and stop at Keflavík. For Iceland, every unlimited choice starts at $25.99 for 5 days.

How much data does an Iceland trip actually use?

Less than an unlimited plan gives you. Our calculator puts a 7-day trip at 2–3 GB for light use, 4–7 GB for moderate use and 9–15 GB for heavy use. Heavy means video most days, or the phone working as a hotspot for a tablet or a second phone.

Here is the same table the Iceland plans page shows, built from the four Iceland-only plans and checked on 26 October 2026:

Trip lengthLightModerateHeavy
3 days1–2 GB: Iceland 2 GB, $5.492–4 GB: Iceland 10 GB, $16.995–8 GB: Iceland 10 GB, $16.99
7 days2–3 GB: Iceland 3 GB, $6.994–7 GB: Iceland 10 GB, $16.999–15 GB: Iceland 20 GB, $25.99
10 days3–5 GB: Iceland 10 GB, $16.996–10 GB: Iceland 10 GB, $16.9913–20 GB: Iceland 20 GB, $25.99
14 days4–7 GB: Iceland 10 GB, $16.998–14 GB: Iceland 20 GB, $25.9918–28 GB: no single Iceland plan
30 days8–15 GB: Iceland 20 GB, $25.9915–25 GB: no single Iceland plan30–50+ GB: no single Iceland plan

The gaps are real. The largest Iceland-only plan is 20 GB, so heavy use over two weeks, or moderate use over a month, needs either a top-up or a Europe pack. The Iceland plans can be topped up, so you can start on 20 GB and add more on the same eSIM.

Are Iceland-only plans cheaper than Europe packs?

Two friends at a Reykjavik harbour cafe window comparing plans on a phone, with coffee cups and a cinnamon bun on the table.
At every size we compared, a Europe pack that covers Iceland costs less than the Iceland-only plan.

No. At every size we compared, a Europe pack that covers Iceland costs less than the Iceland-only plan of the same size:

DataIceland-only plan (Airalo)Europe pack that covers IcelandDifference
2 GB$5.49, 15 daysEurope 2 GB (NextLink), $4.49, 15 days$1.00
3 GB$6.99, 30 daysEurope Special 3 GB (Sparks), $5.49, 30 days$1.50
10 GB$16.99, 30 daysEurope 10 GB (eSIMGo), $13.99, 30 days$3.00
20 GB$25.99, 30 daysEurope 20 GB (NextLink), $22.99, 30 days$3.00

Here is the same 7-day and 14-day picker run on the 48 multi-country plans from our Europe page that include Iceland:

Trip lengthLightModerateHeavy
7 daysEurope Special 3 GB, $5.49Europe 7 GB, $10.99Europe 15 GB, $16.99
14 daysEurope 7 GB, $10.99Europe 15 GB, $16.99Europe 30 GB, $25.99
30 daysEurope and USA 15 GB, $18.99Europe 25 GB, $26.99Europe 50 GB 60 Days, $48.99

So why buy the Iceland-only plan? The listing says “Full data speeds – no daily limits, no throttling”, and it has its own top-up packs. The Europe packs differ in small print instead. Europe 15 GB and Europe 30 GB from eSIMGo last 15 days, not 30. The IP address is in Ireland, the UK or “Western Europe” depending on the supplier, where the Iceland plans’ listings name no IP country. For most visitors the Europe pack is the better buy, and if the trip includes a stop in Copenhagen or London it also covers that.

When is unlimited worth it in Iceland?

Only when you expect to go well past the heavy range. Compare each unlimited plan with the cheapest fixed-data plan that covers heavy use for the same trip:

TripHeavy useCheapest fixed plan covering itUnlimited planExtra cost of unlimited
7 days9–15 GBEurope 15 GB, $16.99Europe Premium Unlimited 10 Days, $38.99$22.00
10 days13–20 GBEurope 20 GB, $22.99Europe Premium Unlimited 10 Days, $38.99$16.00
14 days18–28 GBEurope 30 GB, $25.99Europe Premium Unlimited 15 Days, $51.99$26.00

There is no 7-day unlimited plan, so a week costs the 10-day price. The 5-day plan at $25.99 only fits a long weekend.

Unlimited earns its price in a few specific cases: the phone is the only internet for a group in a campervan, someone is uploading video every evening, or you are working remotely on hotspot. In those cases 6 GB a day of fast data is the point. For a normal week of maps, photos and messages, the fixed plans above cover the heavy range for $16 to $26 less than the unlimited plan.

What about plans with “Unlimited” in the name?

Two plans that cover Iceland have “Unlimited” in the title and a fixed data allowance: EU 60 GB Unlimited Calls ($51.99) and EU 120 GB Unlimited Calls ($65.99), both 30 days, supplied by Bouygues. The unlimited part is calls and texts within the EU, not data. They come with a French +33 number, cannot be topped up, use a French IP address, and start when the eSIM connects to a network.

Buy one if you want a European number for calls during the trip. For data alone, Europe 50 GB 60 Days at $48.99 costs $3 less than the 60 GB calls plan, gives 10 GB less, and lasts twice as long.

Which option fits which Iceland trip?

  • Reykjavík and the Golden Circle, 3 to 5 days, normal use: Europe Special 5 GB, $8.49, valid 30 days.
  • A week on the Ring Road, moderate use: Europe 7 GB, $10.99. If you prefer an Iceland-only plan, Iceland 10 GB at $16.99.
  • A week with video most evenings or a hotspot: Europe 15 GB, $16.99, valid 15 days.
  • Two weeks, heavy use: Europe 30 GB, $25.99, valid 15 days.
  • The phone is the only internet for several people: Europe Premium Unlimited 10 Days or 15 Days, $38.99 or $51.99.
  • A month or longer: Europe 25 GB at $26.99 for moderate use, or Europe 50 GB 60 Days at $48.99 for heavy use. No unlimited plan lasts that long.

Three unlimited eSIMs cover Iceland, all Europe Premium Unlimited, and the shortest costs $25.99 for 5 days. The cheaper EUconnect unlimited plans do not include Iceland. A Europe pack is cheaper than the Iceland-only plan at every size we compared, and Europe 15 GB at $16.99 covers a heavy week. Unlimited only pays off if one phone is doing the work of a home connection.
