eSIM Plans in the UK: Trips Abroad, or Data at Home With No Contract

Short answer: Two lists apply. For trips abroad, pick by destination: a week in Spain, France, Greece, Turkey or the USA is $10.99, Italy $9.49. For UK data with no contract, our 8 UK plans run 7 to 30 days from $5.99. For a typical week away, buy a 7 to 10 GB plan for your destination.

People who live in the UK ask this question in two ways. Some want a list of eSIMs to take abroad. Others want a SIM-free way to get data in the UK without signing a contract. This guide answers both from our own catalog, and it is plain about one limit: we do not sell monthly phone contracts or SIM-only deals from UK networks. Everything here is a one-time prepaid eSIM. The UK plans are all on the United Kingdom plans page. Plan details change, so treat the live listing on each product page as the source of truth before you buy.

Which list do you need: abroad, or at home?

Start with where the phone will be when you use the data.

If you are leaving the UK for a holiday or a work trip, you want a plan for the destination, not a UK plan. Your UK plan from EE, Vodafone, Three, O2 or anyone else keeps your UK number, and the travel eSIM sits beside it as a second line for data. Most of this guide’s tables are for that case.

If you are staying in the UK and want data with no contract, for a spare phone, a tablet, a visitor, or a month between contracts, you want a plan that works inside the UK. We sell 8 UK single-country plans for that, plus several multi-country packs that include the UK.

Either way you pay once and nothing renews. When the data or the days run out, the plan stops and no bill follows.

What eSIM plans can you use in the UK itself?

We list 8 single-country UK plans, all from one provider, eSIMGo. Seven of them include a UK mobile number and minutes for calls.

The plan text on the seven plans with minutes says the eSIM comes with a UK mobile phone number, that the minutes are for calls to UK numbers only, and that receiving calls is free. None of the eight lists SMS.

All eight share the rest of their terms. They are one-time prepaid packages with no auto-renewal and no contract, according to the plan text. They allow hotspot, they can be topped up, they list 5G/4G/LTE, and they start when the phone first uses data. If you do not activate one within 2 months of buying it, it expires.

The 999 GB plans are a large fixed allowance, not an unlimited plan. Their listing says there are no daily limits and no throttling, and gives 999 GB as the data figure.

Is a multi-country pack cheaper for data in the UK?

For data only at home, a pack that includes the UK often costs less than a UK plan with a number and minutes.

Often, yes, if you only need data. Several packs that include the UK cost less per gigabyte than the UK plans, because the UK plans also carry a number and minutes.

Compare the 30-day options at around 10 GB:

PlanCoversDataNumberPrice
UK 10 GB 200 MinutesUK10 GBUK number, 200 minutes$16.99
UK and Ireland 7 GBUK and Ireland7 GBNo$10.99
Europe 10 GB by eSIMGo34 countries incl. UK10 GBNo$13.99
UK and Ireland 15 GBUK and Ireland15 GBNo$17.99

The UK and Ireland plans say on the listing that they are data-only and do not come with a phone number. The Europe pack is data-only too.

So the choice is simple. If you need a UK number on the second line, or want to call UK numbers, take a UK plan. If you only need data for a tablet, a hotspot or a backup phone, a pack that includes the UK gives more for the money. We count 85 multi-country plans that include the UK.

How long can a prepaid eSIM run without a contract?

From 1 day to 365 days. Across the 917 plans we list for sale, 592 run for 30 days, so a month is by far the most common length.

The UK plans sit at the short end: 7, 14 or 30 days. There is no UK single-country plan longer than 30 days. If you want a longer run with the UK included, the yearly packs are the option. Europe and USA Yearly gives 40 GB for 365 days at $56.99, and the Half Global yearly plans start at 30 GB for $43.99. Both cover the UK.

“No contract” also means nothing carries over. When a 30-day plan ends, you either top it up, which all 8 UK plans allow, or buy a new one. Our guide to 30, 60 and 90-day plans covers longer stays abroad, and the guide to when validity starts explains the clock.

What does a week abroad cost, by destination?

Here are six of those destinations at four trip lengths.

Spain, France and Italy were the three countries residents of Great Britain visited most in 2024, according to the Office for National Statistics: about 18.2 million visits to Spain, 9.1 million to France and 4.9 million to Italy. Prices checked on 14 October 2026. The moderate ranges in the calculator are 2–4 GB for 3 days, 4–7 GB for a week, 8–14 GB for two weeks and 15–25 GB for a month. Each pick is the cheapest plan in our catalog that covers the destination, has at least the top of that range, and lasts the whole trip. All picks are valid for 30 days, and where two plans cost the same we show the one with more data or the single-country one.

Two patterns stand out. A week costs $9.49 to $10.99 almost everywhere on this list. And for a month, a Europe pack is often the cheapest way to cover a single country, because Europe 25 GB at $26.99 is cheaper than the single-country plans for France, Greece and Turkey that reach 25 GB.

The ONS figures are official statistics in development, and the ONS corrected the 2024 destination estimates on 4 September 2026. The numbers above are the corrected ones.

Why do Spain, Portugal and Ireland have no single-country plan?

Three friends from the UK laughing at an outdoor café table in Lisbon with pastéis de nata and a paper map
Portugal has no single-country plan in our catalog, so a week there runs on the Spain and Portugal pack.

Because none of our suppliers sells one at the moment. Spain, Portugal and Ireland are covered only by packs: 90 plans include Spain, 86 include Portugal and 86 include Ireland.

The two-country packs cover these trips at single-country prices:

  • Spain and Portugal comes in 7 GB at $10.99 and 15 GB at $17.99, both for 30 days.
  • UK and Ireland comes in 2 GB for 15 days at $5.49, then 7, 15, 30 and 50 GB for 30 days, from $10.99.

The UK and Ireland pack has a side benefit for UK residents. You can use it in the UK as well, so one eSIM covers the journey to the airport or ferry and the time in Ireland. Remember that its 30 days start when the phone first uses data, wherever that is.

For a trip that adds France or Italy, look at the wider packs on the Europe plans page. Our UK travel eSIM guide covers the other direction, for visitors coming to the UK.

Which Europe packs include the UK?

Most of the wide ones, but not all, so check the coverage list on the product page.

Europe by eSIMGo (34 countries), Europe Special by Sparks (35) and Europe by NextLink (36) all include the UK and Ireland. At 10 GB for 30 days, Europe by eSIMGo is $13.99 and Europe Special is $14.99. Europe by NextLink has no 10 GB size: 7 GB is $10.99 and 12 GB is $14.99. EUconnect by Airalo, Balkans Special and Europe and USA include the UK too.

Two packs leave things out. Europe by NextLink does not include Switzerland. Europe Premium, the unlimited pack from eSIMGo, leaves out the UK.

A pack that includes the UK has one practical use for people who live here: if your trip crosses Europe and comes back through a UK airport, the same eSIM still works on the way home.

Why are prices in US dollars?

Our catalog is priced in US dollars, so a UK card pays in dollars and your bank converts the amount. The rate and any fee for paying in a foreign currency are set by your card issuer, not by us. If that fee matters, check your card’s terms before you buy.

What you see on the product page is the full price for the plan. We do not add tax at checkout.

What is customer service like?

It is email-based. You write to us through the contact form, and we reply by email, usually within 24 hours, 7 days a week. There is no phone line and no live chat.

Most order questions do not need a reply. The check order page shows your order and the QR code after you confirm your email address with a one-time code.

Our refund promise is short: if you have no QR code within 1 hour of paying, we start the refund automatically. The money then goes back to your card, which takes a few working days, as card refunds do. The QR code itself is emailed in minutes in normal conditions.

Before you buy, make sure the phone supports eSIM and is not locked to one network. Every UK plan’s listing says it works only with eSIM-compatible phones and tablets that are not carrier locked.

FAQ

Can I get an eSIM with no contract in the UK?

Yes. All 8 of our UK plans are one-time prepaid packages with no contract and no auto-renewal. They run 7, 14 or 30 days and cost $5.99 to $68.99, checked on 14 October 2026.

Does a UK eSIM from you come with a phone number?

Seven of the eight do. Those plans include a UK mobile number and minutes for calls to UK numbers, and receiving calls is free. UK 999 GB, and the multi-country packs that include the UK, are data-only.

What is the cheapest eSIM for a week in Spain?

Spain and Portugal 7 GB, at $10.99 for 30 days. Spain has no single-country plan in our catalog, so the two-country pack is the cheapest way to cover a week of moderate use.

Can I use one eSIM for the UK and Ireland?

Yes. The UK and Ireland pack covers both, from 2 GB at $5.49 to 50 GB at $46.99. It is data-only and can be topped up.

How do I contact support?

Through the contact form on our site. We reply by email, usually within 24 hours, 7 days a week. There is no phone line.

Conclusion: two lists, one rule

If you are going abroad, buy for the destination: about $9.49 to $10.99 for a week in the places UK residents visit most. If you are staying home, the UK plans give a number and minutes, and the packs that include the UK give more data for the money. In both cases you pay once, nothing renews, and when the plan ends nothing is billed.

Before you buy, confirm

  • The destination, or the UK, is on the plan’s coverage list.
  • The validity covers your trip or your month.
  • Whether you need a UK number and minutes, or data only.
  • Your phone supports eSIM and is not network locked.
  • Whether the plan can be topped up, if you might run short.
