Turkey eSIM: us vs Airalo, Saily and Holafly

Our prices below are read live from our own catalogue. Competitor prices were checked by hand on the date at the bottom of this page, in US dollars as shown on each provider's own site.

First: how much data does a trip actually take?

It depends on how you use your phone. A light user, mostly on Wi-Fi with maps and messaging, gets through about 2–3GB a week; a moderate user on daily maps, transit apps and social media needs 4–7GB; a heavy user navigating all day, streaming and on video calls, 9–15GB. What actually drives the number is short video, not maps: navigation costs 5-15MB an hour, scrolling Reels or TikTok costs 0.9-1.8GB an hour.

Ranges come from our trip data calculator. Estimates, not measurements — your habits decide. Do not assume hotel Wi-Fi will carry the load: about 90% of hotels offer it, but only around 10% of travellers abroad actually use public Wi-Fi.

What each of them actually sells

Airalo and Holafly sell only unlimited data by the day — neither offers a fixed-GB plan at all. Saily sells both. We sell fixed GB in fine steps, which is why the tables below compare cost per trip rather than like-for-like plans: there is no like-for-like to compare.

Competitor terms as their policies read in September 2026: Saily, Airalo, Holafly.

Not like for like: ours is 10GB over 30 days, Airalo and Holafly sell unlimited data over 7 days. A light or moderate week takes up to about 7GB, so 10GB covers it; a heavy week of all-day navigation, streaming and video calls runs 9–15GB and can go past it. Unless yours is a heavy week, the extra you pay for unlimited buys data you will not use.

What "unlimited" is worth in GB

Airalo's 30-day unlimited plan here costs $69.00. At our best rate (50GB $36.99, $0.74/GB) the same money buys about 93GB. Unless you expect to use more than that in a month, unlimited is headroom you pay for and never touch.

When you should not buy from us

If you genuinely expect to use more than about 93GB in a month — daily streaming on cellular, tethering a laptop, no Wi-Fi where you stay — buy Airalo unlimited instead. Above that point it is the cheaper choice, and we would rather say so.

If your eSIM does not arrive, or you do not use it

If your eSIM has not arrived 1 hour after payment, we refund you automatically: no form, no email. If it arrived but you never installed it, you can ask for a refund within 14 days of purchase. We check eligibility with the carrier that issued the plan, and some carriers do not allow refunds once an eSIM has been issued. For comparison, as their policies read in September 2026: Holafly accepts refund requests for unactivated eSIMs within 6 months, Saily within 30 days, and Airalo refunds a wrong purchase or a change of plans only as in-app credit.
